“Fascinated with presidential campaigns and intrigued by adult coloring books, Kate Salley Palmer decided to blend the two together. Her 2015 release by Warbranch Press, 2016 Race for the White House: A Grownup Coloring Book, features caricatures of all the (2016) presidential candidates alongside a summary of facts about each one. Kate said the motivation behind the book was two-fold, ‘I wanted to entertain myself and do something comprehensive about the campaign. I figure people can have fun coloring and learn a little at the same time.”
The Seneca (SC) Journal – October 13, 2015
“Adult coloring book are all the rage these days, and cartoonist Kate Salley Palmer, of Central, has put her amazing talent to work in 2016 Race for the White House: A Grownup Coloring Book. It’s a collection of humorous caricatures of the thundering herd of candidates. Palmer’s work has appeared in newspapers since the 70’s…….but she’s better known for the past 17 years for the children’s books she and her husband, Jim, publish at Warbranch Press. Opposite the caricatures (in the book) are biographical charts with useful information such as the candidates full name, marriages, religious preference and work experience………these will educate many adult voters and would be a handy educational tool for a teen voting for the first time.”
Anderson (SC) Independent-Mail – November 15, 2015
“As a longtime political cartoonist, Kate Salley Palmer has always been interested in presidential races. But Palmer, a former nationally syndicated political cartoonist turned children’s book author, drew nearly two dozen presidential hopefuls in the 2016 Race for the White House in a different way for her latest book – coloring book characters. In addition to the coloring book page, each candidate has a short biography that reveals some interesting tidbits. Palmer said she tried to make the coloring book as nonpartisan as she could. The book is available from the Warbranch Press website, www.warbranchpress.com.
